latest from Belgrade
My latest trip to Belgrade, Serbia (just got back a few days ago) was pretty depressing, much more than any of my previous trips. Maybe because of the upcoming Presidential elections over there, people were in a somber mood, weather sucked, and in Belgrade mood of the city depends a lot on the weather ...
The reason for this trip was to shoot for my upcoming book with Powerhouse Books, BELGRADE BELONGS TO ME, out in December 2008.
Btw, if you haven't heard yet, NOVAK DJOKOVIC (20 years old tennis player from Belgrade) won the Australian Open tournament. Congratulations kid, you rule ! more about it HERE

IN BELGRADE
Here I am (the one on the left) in Belgrade, Serbia with my very very good friend of mine, photographer Dado Djilas - he works for KURIR, it's a daily paper pretty much everyone over there hates (but they still read it, it's tabloid style, with a lot of shocking info - Belgrade's version of the NEW YORK POST?)
Photos were taken by Dado's colleague, paparazzo style.
...but I think KURIR is dope, they recently had an article on MARTIN LUTHER, the founder of Protestantism, and used a photo of MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
How cool is that?

Bombing of Belgrade, 1944
I'm in Belgrade at the moment, digging through some old photos that my grandfather, Radomir Milivojevich (1900-1973), took ... here are a couple of shots of the ALIED BOMBING OF BELGRADE IN 1944.
This is what WIKIPEDIA says about it:
Belgrade was bombed by Anglo-American air forces on April 16 and 17, 1944, which was Orthodox Easter Day. The most important unit that took part was American 15th Air Force, based in Foggia in the south of Italy. This carpet bombing raid was executed by 600 bombers flying at high altitude. Civilian casualties were 1,160, while German military losses were 18.
Bombing of the city was repeated on April 21, April 24, May 18, June 6, July 8, and September 3, 1944.

PACKAGE FROM JAPAN
I finally got HAWAII, the new book by legendary DAIDO MORIYAMA, signed, a gift from his agent.
It's amazing, maybe even better than BUENOS AIRES, my favorite book of Daido's so far. I'm not sure where you can get it in the states, DASHWOOD BOOKS sometimes has it, eBay maybe ...
